In the chapter called Ram-Ding Sky Cave, Milarepa's students Rechungpa and Drigom Repa are having lengthy discussions regarding the view and meditation of Naropa and Maitripa.
The Jetsun says to them, "You two should listen to my song and then have your discussion." He then sings this song of realization.
