In the chapter, "The Offering of the Khokhom King and the Scrutiny of Tseringma", Milarepa is meditating in the Katya Cave in Nyishang. A servant is sent by his king to invite the Jetsun to visit Khokhom and Yerang (the Nepali cities of Bhaktapur and Patan) but Milarepa declines. The servant says: "Would it not be best for you to come, since a great king has summoned you?"
Milarepa answers: "I am a great chakravartin king. No king is more happy nor rich and powerful as I." and he sings him this song.
