After a snowfall that lasted 18 days, Jetsun Milarepa was snowed in for six months at La-chi Kang. All the residents from the nearby village of Nya-nang thought he must have passed away. When the path finally cleared up, they went to pay their final respect and make funeral arrangements but they found him in brilliant condition singing to them this song of realization.
