Dolpopa Sherab Gyaltsen, or Dolpo Sangye, lived from 1292-1361 and became the leader of the Jonang Monastery. Dolpopa visited His Holiness the 3rd Karmapa Rangjung Dorje at Tsurphu and, through his influence, became one of the greatest expounders of the Shentong school in Tibet.

In Oxford, March 1989, Rinpoche teaches three prayers by the "Buddha from Dolpo". The prayers are:
