This commentary was composed during a visit to Hawaii, November 1998, where Rinpoche teaches Nāgārjuna's In Praise of Dharmadhātu. For this very first teaching, please see the category "In Praise of Dharmadhātu" or use the search box typing "Hawaii 1998".

At Karmê Chöling 1999, Rinpoche began the eigtht seminar by firmly establishing the view of madhyamaka. He chose to do this based on a composition of his own, A Concise explanation of Dharmadhatu: Mind itself, Dharmadhatu's Luminous Expanse, which is a commentary on the Protector Nagarjuna's Praise to Dharmadhatu.

At Rigpe Dorje, San Antonio, September 1999, Rinpoche offers explanatory reading transmissions and explanations on the twelve ayatanas.

At Dechen Chöling 2005, Rinpoche offered four public talks: Two talks on his composition, The Essence of the Definitive Meaning, and two on this composition found here.
