The Absence of Personal Self:
"The body is not the self nor does self have a body;
The self is not based on the body or body on self.
Know that these four relations apply to all skandhas;
so these are considered the twenty views of self."(144)
"A carriage cannot be considered distinct from its part,
Nor is it identical with them. It does not possess them.
It does not depend on them or they on it.
It is not their mere assembly or their shape." (151)
"In reality as well as in the world,
These seven approaches do not prove the carriage exists;
Nevertheless, we do not analyze it
But accept its imputed existence based on its parts
In full accord with consensus in the world." (158)
"And in the same way, in accordance with worldly consensus,
The self is also described as incorporator
With reference to skandhas and dhatus and six ayatanas" (162a-c)
"Products are the embodied; this, the creator. (162d)
