  Kagyu Ling, Plaige, 5-24 August 1989, Tibetan only

  While in Kagyu Ling, Rinpoche also offered teachings on Maitreya's Distinguishing Phenomena and Pure Being as well as on Nagarjuna's Sixty Stanzas on Reasoning for the public audience. Rinpoche is inspired by the fact that many institutes are developing in the West for studying the Tibetan texts of dharma. He drills his students in the language and syllogisms enabling them to be of benefit in the progress.

  You also find a public talk on shamatha and vipassana. The recordings are in Tibetan only.

  Since Rinpoche had taught chapter 1 in Plaige in the summer, he sets two of his senior students to teach that chapter to those, who hadn't participated in France. Here, you will find these senior students' questions regarding the language.

  There are also two talks where Rinpoche trains the aspiring translators in oral translation based on the text.

    After going through the meditation in detail, Rinpoche relates the applications to the ten ways of practicing dharma. Rinpoche will leave for Nepal tomorrow.

  Chapter 3, Marpa House, Bouddha, December 1989

  Rinpoche leaves Bodhgaya on the 29th of November to travel to Nepal. He returns on the 18th December.

  During these two weeks in Kathmandu, it seems Rinpoche teaches chapter 3 to students from the Rumtek Shedra, who visit him. They will be tested in learning the root verses by heart, when they come to Bodhgaya.
