Rinpoche oftens begin a course by firmly establishing the view of the tenets, in order to enable a student to grasp the teachings constituting the actual topic of the course.
Please note that in a broader context, the title "Progressive Stages of Meditation on Emptiness" སྟོང་ཉིད་སྒོམ་རིམ། is also used for "The Views of the Tenets" or "Stages of View" གྲུབ་མཐའི་ལྟ་བའམ་ལྟ་བ་རིམ་འཇུག།

- At Naropa University, Boulder 1995, Rinpoche introduces the views of the genuine and apparent.
- In Denver, 5 October 1999, Rinpoche gave a public talk arranged by Shambhala Center Denver.
- At Karma Chodrub Gyamtso Ling, Brussels, March 2003, Rinpoche introduces the view and composes spontaneous verses elucidating the necessity for love and compassion, before proceeding to teach the view of Dzogchen's mind-, expanse- and instruction sections from Gradual Path of the Wisdom Essence ལམ་རིམ་ཡེ་ཤེས་སྙིང་པོ། drawing parallels to madhyamaka and mahāmudrā.
