At Kamalashila Institute, Wachendorf, 24-25 October 1987, Rinpoche points out the fundamental nature of mind by first introducing the buddhists mahāyāna tenets ཐེག་པ་ཆེན་པོའི་གྲུབ་མཐའ། and then explaining in depth the Shentong view with its extraordinary features and the necessity to turn the third wheel of the dharma.
Rinpoche bases his explanation mainly on quotation from the Buddhanature ཐེག་པ་ཆེན་པོའི་རྒྱུད་བླ་མ། and Treasury of Knowledge, chapter 6.3. ཤེས་བྱ་མཛོད་ལས་གནས་དྲུག་པ་སྐབས་གསུམ་པ།
